It was a military exercise between two
platoons of P.M.A, named as Blue Land and Fox land. A day before, Blue Land
attacked the Fox Land hideout and were successful to capture a cadet of Fox Land and also were able to
grab and LMG of the respective platoon. Now Blue Land was alert that Fox Land
will not only going to pay off the old score, but also going to make them
suffer any bigger loss. The guards of Blue Land
saw a supply truck arriving and
after a usual check, they let it in. After a few minutes there was a help cry
from their kitchen area, "Help! Help". The guards rushed to help, but
it was in vain .The cadets of Fox Land were hiding in the supply truck, captured
their 2 cadets . The truck driver was identified as the Platoon Commander of
Fox Land, wearing a Corporal's uniform. That's not fair! That's not fair! Blue
Land kept shouting as the Platoon Commanders and the supply vehicles have to be
neutral during the exercise, but the truck was away with the captives. Platoon
Commander was called before the Battalion Commander Colonel Saad Ullah .
"Don't you know that its according to the rules that a Platoon Commander
has to be neutral during the exercises?", asked Colonel. "Sir ! War
is not going to be according to our rules, it makes its own rules. So, I am
training my cadets accordingly, was the answer by the Platoon Commander.
Colonel Saad Ullah was a very wise person, he understood the situation and let
the platoon commander go after a brief lecture as he had understood that how
keen was this young Captain in training his cadets. In the other exercise, Platoon Commander was leading his platoon in Shankyari near Kakul. Though it was month of June, but the night was still very cold. After staying at a place, the platoon marched forward. When it advanced about a mile, they came to know that a Bengali Cadet is missing. It was very alarming situation. They went back and saw the cadet lying between the trees, cold and unconscious. Platoon commander rushed towards him and gave him first aid and made him fit enough to walk with them. "Sir! Can't we call the ambulance?", a cadet said. "No, I can't tolerate anyone saying that a cadet of my Platoon has to go in the ambulance, just keep him walking. I can't demoralize the rest of Platoon", was the answer by the platoon commander.
It was the last term of cadets when they were taken to the Artillery Training School, Nowshehra. It was the firing range and the real bomb shells were being used for firing. Accidentally a shell exploded and a cadet named GC Aqeel was badly injured. He was taken to the CMH Peshawar. Many cadets rushed towards the CMH to donate blood, but they saw that their platoon commander was already there and donated blood. Doctor recalled his words that "take all my blood if it can save Aqeel's life”
Some cadets of P.M.A were selected for the Para Training School, Peshawar for Para Training Wing. Platoon Commander also joined them for the training and No. 25 was allotted to him. After a tough training of PTW, the cadets had to make at least five jumps from the C-130 aircraft, which makes them eligible to get the wing. The Platoon Commander made 4 successful jumps. Unfortunately a day before the last jump, he had a very bad road accident which crushed his jeep badly and also injured his right leg, making a hair line fracture in the shin bone. The PTS commander was the famous Major TM Tiger. Seeing the situation, he refused to give the permission for the last jump as it was fatal for the Platoon Commander to jump with such an injury. But the Platoon Commander kept on insisting to jump as it was the question about the dignity of PMA and the morale of cadets. After a long series of arguments, TM approved the jump. The Platoon Commander jumped from the aircraft and successfully landed. Next day, the Para Training Wing was pinned on the broad chest of the Platoon Commander, standing along with his cadets.
This Platoon Commander was later promoted to the rank of Major and posted out from PMA to his very own battalion 6FF.
Today, the world knows this brave and devoted Platoon Commander as Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed Nishan-e-Haider, Sitara-e-Jurrat, Sword of Honour.
