Pakistan Army Successfully Test Fires Nuclear Cruise Missile Ra’ad




Pakistan on Monday conducted a successful test fire of Air Launched Cruise Missile (ALCM) ’Ra’ad’, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.



The missile, with stealth technology,  is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads to a range of 350 kilometres.
The cruise missile can be used in an anti-shipping role via aircraft against the ground/static targets.
Ra’ad in Arabic means “Thunder”. The cruise missile which will provide Pakistan a great strategic stand off capability of land and sea. The missile has low detection probability due to stealth design and materials used in creating the missile.
The successful launch has been appreciated by President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and Director General Strategic Plans Division, Lieutenant General Zubair Mahmood Hayat.
General Hayar termed the successful flight test of Ra’ad cruise missile as a major step towards strengthening Pakistan’s full spectrum credible minimum deterrence capability.
He also appreciated the  scientists and engineers  for their dedication in contributing to the success of the launch.
