Pak Army assists police on city entry, exits

Pakistan army is assisting the police and rangers at all entry & exit points of the metropolis to combat terrorism, The Nation learnt on Monday.
According to the details, Pak Army soldiers took positions at all entry and exit points of the city providing assistance to security forces at Super Highway, National Highway and Hub.

Sources privy to the matter revealed that the deployment of army is a part of the national action plan.

It’s worth mentioning here that rangers have already been deployed in the city for the assistance of Karachi police while army was being added to strengthen the hold.

Civil administration had vowed to enhance security arrangements to prevent smuggling of arms, explosives, stolen vehicles to curb violence.
The police department and the provincial government had announced the installation of scanners, biometric systems and sensitive cameras at all the entry and exit points but the plans remains in limbo.

15 KILLED IN 20 DAYS IN PAPOSH NAGAR
Tension prevailed in Paposh Nagar area on Monday after a policeman was shot dead bringing the number to deaths to 15 during the last 20 days in this area alone.

In the latest incident, a policeman who was on duty with polio workers was fired upon by unknown gunmen.
According to reports, in the last 20 days doctors, shopkeepers, policemen and others have been shot dead in the area.

It is to be mentioned here that several areas of Karachi are continuously in the grip of tension and fear due to violence and target killings.

Meanwhile, at least two youngsters were killed after they drove their speeding car into an electric pole on late Sunday night.
