KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Saturday raided Ziauddin Hospital and arrested Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) Dr Yousuf Sattar. Detained PPP leader Dr Asim Hussain owns the hospital.
According to reports, the rangers have taken CCTV video record from the hospital and have. The paramilitary force also confiscated documents from the finance and IT departments.
The crackdown against Ziauddin Hospital has been continuing for the last four days. Dr Asim was remanded into Rangers custody for 90 days for his role in money laundering, ‘china cutting’, providing money to terrorists and issuing illegal licences for CNG stations across Sindh.
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah on Friday expressed his displeasure over Asim’s detention. The former petroleum minister is a close friend of PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari.
The CM had said the Sindh Rangers director general should have informed him about the action as he (Shah) was the boss.
Separately, Rangers informed an anti-terrorism court that Sui Southern Gas Company Deputy Managing Director Shoaib Warsi and two other officials Zohair Siddique and Kamran Nagi were under preventive detention for 90 days. The personnel of the paramilitary force produced the three detainees in the chamber of ATC-I judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso.
Rangers contended that the SSGC officials had been detained for inquiry under Section 11-EEEE of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
