RAWALPINDI: Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop Thursday gave a big hand to the progress made by Pakistani Army against the extremist militants holed up in the rugged borderlands in the north, Samaa reported.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ms Bishop expressed these views during a meeting with Chief of the Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif here at General Headquarters (GHQ).
Matters of mutual interest including defence and security cooperation between both the countries remained the order of the high-profile meeting, a handout issued by the military’s media wing said.
Australian foreign minister was all praise for Operation Zarb-e-Azb, Pakistan army’s major offensive against the terrorists in the tribal areas, the ISPR said.
By the end of meeting, she thanked Pakistan, its armed forces, and the people at large for rendering countless sacrifices to make the region as well as the world safer places.
