At least 10 suspected militants were killed by the Pakistani army in northwestern Pakistan on Thursday.
A senior military official told Anadolu Agency, on condition of anonymity, that security forces launched a search operation in the Orakzai tribal area leading to a clash with Taliban militants.
The official said 12 hideouts were destroyed in the operation and six militants were arrested.
Orakzai Agency is one of the seven semi-autonomous tribal areas in Pakistan which have been a battleground between the army and Taliban militants over the last decade.
The army has also been engaged in full-scale operations against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan militant network and its affiliates in the nearby North Waziristan and Khyber Agency tribal regions since last June.
The army claims to have killed more than 2,400 militants during this period while more than 100 soldiers have also been killed.
The military operation has displaced nearly 1.5 million tribesmen from North Waziristan, Khyber Agency and other tribal areas.
