RIYADH: A non-commissioned officer was killed and three other personnel were injured late on Wednesday during a live-ammunition shooting exercise involving Saudi ground forces and special units of Pakistan Army, official Saudi news agency said.
The joint exercise, Al-Samsam 5, is being carried out in the north of the kingdom’s Bahah region, which is not far from the Yemeni border where Saudi forces are ready to face any possible cross-border offensive.
The wounded personnel were transferred to the King Fahd Hospital in the country’s southwest and were reported to be in stable condition.
The official Saudi Press Agency said Bahah Governor Mishari bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud visited the injured.
Although it was not clear to which country the dead and the injured belonged, reports indicated that no Pakistani was involved in the incident.
