Hangu gunbattle: Two security personnel succumb to injuries

HANGU (Dunya News) – As many as two security personnel, who got severely injured in an exchange of firing between security forces and militants in Orakzai Agency, succumbed to injuries taking the death toll to three, Dunya News reported on Sunday.



At least six officers sustained injuries however one embraced martyrdom in an encounter whereas the deceased officers were identified as Naik Yaseen, Naik Naveed and soldier Sultan.
Earlier, at least six suspected militants have been killed and several others injured when PAF jets pounded their hideouts in Khyber tribal region on Saturday morning, Dunya News reported.

The military has mounted a series of air strikes and ground assaults in Tirah in recent weeks that it says have captured key passes in a remote region that has never before come under full government control.

The operation in Tirah, part of Khyber tribal area, aims to build on the army s offensive against strongholds of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups in nearby North Waziristan that began in June last year.

Last month the army said it killed at least 230 militants in Tirah, which has long been a hideout for TTP ally Lashkar-e-Islam (LI).
