LAHORE (Web Desk) – Election Commission asked for assistance from Army for holding the local body election in cantonments on Friday. During polling, display of arms, ammunitions and usage of mobile phone will be banned, reported Dunya News.
Local body elections will be held in 42 cantonments all over Pakistan on Saturday.
Election Commission has issued a code of conduct for the local body polls.
Transportation will not be provided to candidates while members of assembly and ministers will not be able to visit polling stations, stated the code of conduct.
The code of conduct also stated that identity cards (ID) are mandatory for voters while polling agents will also be liable to carry their ID cards. In case of any violence, action will be taken against the offenders, it stated.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Election Commission has asked for assistance for holding local body elections in 42 cantonments.
12,400 soldiers of Pakistan Army will be giving security duties on the day of local body elections.
According to ISPR, troops of Army will ensure security during local body elections and will strive for peaceful atmosphere for the occasion.
