RAWALPINDI: Pakistan army’s spokesman paid tribute to the jawans who embraced martyrdom in avalanche at Gayari Sector in Siachin in 2012.
In a message on micro-blogging website Twitter, Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa said that 139 vailant sons of soil sacrificed their lives for Pakistan’s future.
“Three years back on same day, 139 valiant sons of soil sacrificed 4 (for) our better today at Gayari. Nations' richest tributes for #Gayari Martyrs,” he wrote.
On April 07, 2012, an avalanche hit a Pakistani military base near Siachen Glacier, trapping 139 soldiers and civilian contractors under deep snow. –Samaa
