Islamabad - As the preparations for March 23rd Pakistan Day parade are in full swing, the military establishment of the country has planned to hold full dress rehearsal on March 20 at the newly selected venue near Faizabad, sources said on Friday.
Sources in the ICT administration told this scribe that the city government will soon announce a traffic plan for the twin cities so that the road-users face minimum possible inconvenience before and during the traditional parade through which the military puts its might on display.
However, they said, the issue of closure of religious seminaries falling within a certain radius of the venue is yet to be resolved amicably.
The ICT administration on the request of Pakistan Army and in collaboration of ministry of interior and ministry of religious affairs had planned to temporarily close down religious seminaries due to security reasons.
“Though the interior ministry desired to close down the seminaries from March 1 to end of the month but a little progress has been made so far on the subject”, said the sources.
The related authorities are yet to take into confidence to the concerned quarters so as to convince them that security situation demands closure of all the activities around the venue, the sources added.
On the other side, the law enforcement agencies have been directed to make plans at their end to provide foolproof security during the parade.
However, Pakistan Army will be the in charge of the overall security at the show, the sources said.
A joint military parade of country’s three armed forces will take place on Pakistan Day (March 23) this year, after a gap of seven years.
Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi, which oversees the three armed forces of Pakistan, will organize the parade.
The last military parade had taken place on March 23, 2008 during the tenure of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf as a civilian president.
