Afghan military officials stress on Pakistan honest cooperation

KABUL – Senior military officials of Afghanistan and Pakistan discussed yesterday on joint counterterrorism measures.




According to Afghan news agency, a number of senior officials of Afghanistan National Army (ANA) in a meeting with Pakistani military officers discussed joint counterterrorism and cooperation between the two countries. Afghanistan Deputy Minister for Defence Lt Gen Murad Ali Murad told the Pakistani delegation, the people of Afghanistan and Pakistan with common culture and religion wanted their military officials to have good relations and further consolidated confidence environment as the two countries’ have been facing with common enemy.

He said that honest cooperation of the two countries in counterterrorism could further strengthen friendly and brotherly relations, adding we should make use of this opportunity to take the set relations to practical and real stage. Afghanistan Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Mohammad Dawran told Pakistani side, we believed that the more we have had honest cooperation, the more our brotherly and friendly ties would be strengthened – as terrorism is a common enemy for the two countries, regional efforts of the two countries would be effective to defeat it.

In the meeting, Pakistani side assured that Pakistan was ready to provide any kind of cooperation with Afghanistan in this regard. Meanwhile, the Pakistani delegation accompanied by Afghanistan air force commander paid a visit to air force technical workshops.
