PCENS & IAEA Organize international course on Security in Islamabad

Pakistan’s Centre of Excellence for Nuclear Security (PCENS), in collaboration with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), organized an international course on Security of Radioactive Sources at its academy near Islamabad. Thirteen participants from eight countries
alongwith a number of Pakistani experts participated in the five day course that aimed at enhancing understanding and sharing of best international practices regarding radioactive sources.
PCENS is the state of the art training facility, established by Pakistan to impart training on nuclear security issues. At the 2012 Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) held at Seoul, South Korea, the Prime Minister of Pakistan had offered PCENS for conduct of regional and international courses.
Pakistan’s experience of last 40 years in a highly efficient management of its nuclear security apparatus, in line with its national and international obligations, makes it one of the leading countries with technical and infrastructural support for conduct of such courses. The IAEA, whose Director General Yukia Amano has also visited PCENS earlier this year, has appreciated Pakistan’s contribution in enhancing awareness on nuclear security issues at national, regional and international levels.
