Designs of Indian politicians to be foiled: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Taking note of the recent anti-Pakistan rhetoric by Indian politicians, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif warned on Wednesday that Pakistan will defeat their designs and defend Pakistan’s territorial integrity at all costs.




“No one should dare cast an evil eye on Pakistan,” the army chief said while addressing the formation commanders’ conference here at the General Headquarters.According to DG ISPR Asim Bajwa, General Raheel paid rich tributes to the officers and men of the Pakistan Army for the phenomenal successes in Operation Zarb-e-Azb and the sacrifices they have rendered for the defence of the motherland.

The COAS said that the terrorists had been dislodged from their strongholds in North Waziristan and Khyber Agency and the fight was now moving into the last few pockets close to the Afghan border. Laying emphasis on the continuation of the operations till the elimination of the last expected and probable terrorist groups and sanctuaries, he exhorted the commanders to take all measures to prevent the escape of trapped terrorists.

“With the entire nation standing behind us, we will remain focused on achieving the objective of a terror-free and peaceful Pakistan,” the army chief said.Underscoring Pakistan’s multiple and complicated challenges, the COAS expressed his optimism, saying that the Pakistani nation was the most resilient nation in the world and was already on its way to emerging victorious out of these testing times. “Our main collective aim is to make Pakistan a secure, strong and prosperous country,” he said.

The formation commanders’ conference reiterated its resolve to defeat India’s designs and defend the territorial integrity of Pakistan at all costs with a befitting response to any misadventure against the country.

“The conference took serious notice of the recent Indian hostile rhetoric coupled with its covert and overt actions to destabilise Pakistan and reiterated its resolve to defeat the Indian politicians’ designs and defendthe territorial integrity of Pakistan,” the ISPR said.

The formation commanders conference said it was highly regrettable that Indian politicians not only indulge in actions that are in violation of the United Nations Charter but also take pride in claiming their interference in the internal affairs of other states.

General Raheel presided over the conference. It was attended by corps commanders, principal staff officers and all formation commanders.The forum was given comprehensive briefings on security environment and professional issues.

NNI adds: Reviewing the military’s major offensive against the militants holed up in the tribal region, the formation commanders conference vowed to continue the onslaught until the elimination of last terrorist group and sanctuary.

“With terrorists dislodged from strongholds in North Waziristan Agency (NWA) and Khyber Agency, the fight is now moving to last few pockets close to Pakistan-Afghan border. No entrapped terrorists will be allowed to escape,” the DG ISPR said.

The forum was given a comprehensive briefing on security environment and professional issues.
