Army determined to make Pakistan terror-free: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif on Friday vowed that with unflinching national resolve and clear direction, the armed forces will accomplish their end objective of a terror free Pakistan.

While talking to troops in Khyber Agency where he spent entire day with them and tribal, he commended their sacrifices in restoration of peace and normalcy to the troubled region of Khyber Agency. He first visited Jawaro near Pak-Afghan border and reviewed the progress of ongoing operation in its concluding phase, said an ISPR press release issued here. The COAS said the terrorist’s strongholds in the agency have been reduced and now fight is in progress in the last few pockets, close to Pak-Afghan border. “Noose has been tightened and terrorists will not be allowed to re-establish themselves,” he added.

General Raheel Sharif said that the area in which operation has been carried out was heavily infested with improvised explosive devices (IEDs), mostly foreign made and that after North Wazirastan Agency (NWA), terrorists in Khyber Agency were using the most rugged terrain as their prepared strongholds. He also visited de-radicalisation centre in Bara.
