Army chief calls on Sri Lankan army commander

RAWALPINDI – Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif, who is on an official visit to Sri Lanka held a meeting with the Sri Lankan army commander and discussed matters of professional interest, ways and means for further enhancing bilateral defence ties.




During the meeting of Sri Lankan Commander Army Lieutenant General AWJC De Silva with General Raheel Sharif at the Sri Lankan army HQ focused to mutually benefitting from each other's experience in fighting terrorism.

The Sri Lankan army chief highly praised Pakistan army for its professionalism, and successes in operation Zarb-e-Azb for bringing peace and stability in the region. On arrival at Army HQ, Gen Sharif was presented guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Sri Lankan army.

Later, Gen Sharif was given detailed briefing about operational and training aspects of Sri Lankan army. General De Silva thanked General Raheel Sharif for timely and much needed support during Koslandawatta – Meeriyabedda devastating mudslide in Budhala, Srilanka last year.
