COAS endorses Joint Operation to eradicate terrorists

KARACHIE: Chief of Amry Staff Gen Raheel Sharif has said that Pak-Army isn’t hesitate to make any sacrifice for protecting the borders and the public adding that ‘terrorists and their supporters wont’ be tolerated at any cost’.


Official sources said that COAS expressed his views during chairing an apex committee conference to review the National Action Plan (NAP) conducted at Karachi Corps Headquarters on Thursday. The meeting held a day after the brutal terrorist attack on a bus belonging to Ismaili community members in which at least 46 people killed near Karachi’s Safoora Chowrangi.
Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Governor Sindh Ishratul Ibad, DG ISI, Corps Commander Karachi, DG Rangers, IG Sindh and other top most officials attended the meeting.
Sources said that during the meeting the entire law and order situation in Karachi and the Safoora tragedy were taken into discussion in detail. The meeting also talked about those steps taken by the Sindh government under the Action Plan.
The Intelligence agencies also provided their initial reports about the incident. It was decided in the meeting that a joint operation would be carried by army, rangers, police and other security agencies to squeeze the ferocious elements involved in the incident.
Army Chief endorsed the decisive operation against those elements and also approved a number of measures in this regard.
The committee also agreed in establishing Rangers’ check posts at entry points of the metropolis.
