ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff, General Raheel Sharif has stressed the need for more coordinated and active role of intelligence agencies for an effective counter terrorism campaign. He said that opponent forces are trying to destabilize Pakistan and ISI has to counter such hostile forces. He was expressing these views during his visit at ISI Headquarters in Islamabad today.
Lt. Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Director General, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) briefed army chief about the internal and external security situation of the country and counter terrorism operations.
Gen Raheel Sharif also stressed the need to further coordinate a combined civil-military intelligence efforts at national level.
The Army Chief also appreciated ISI’s role in preventing numerous terrorist acts.
