PM says criticism on army inappropriate

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday while reacting to the statement of former President Asif Zardari said that criticism on army is inappropriate, Samaa reported.

While chairing an important meeting on national issues, PM said that Pakistan army is an important institution of the country and leaders of political parties must refrain from inappropriate criticisim.

"Armed forces are playing a crucial role in operation Zarb-e-Azb and implementation of National Action Plan," PM added.

He said that the whole nation is supporting armed forces.

Meanwhile, former President Asif Zardari will meet PM Nawaz Sharif today at the PM House in Islamabad.

The development came a day after the outburst of Zardari on Pakistan army.

“Stop victimizing us or we will tear you down brick by brick. We do not want to undermine your establishment. You are already entangled in extremist terrorism, Balochistan insurgency, and Indian threats. So be advised... You have been warned, you have been warned, you have been warned,” Zardari said blasting away the Pakistan's powerful army last evening.

Throwing down the gauntlet, the former president of Pakistan threatened the country's war machine with dire consequences like ‘exposing’ the corruption of former generals.

Zardari said the military generals' tenures were no longer than a few years but political parties like the PPP virtually last forever.
