Pakistan army kills 13 militants in air raids

Army claims suspected militants killed in air raids on North Waziristan hideouts
KARACHI, Pakistan – The Pakistani army claims to have killed at least 13 suspected militants in the northwestern North Waziristan tribal area.

The army’s media wing, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), said army jets targeted militant hideouts in the Dattakhel town, near the Afghan border.
More than 2,500 suspected militants, according to army claims, have been killed in the restive tribal belt since the launch of anti-militant operations last June.
The army is the only source of information on the military operation as independent media are not allowed to operate in the region.
North Waziristan, one of the seven semi autonomous tribal regions in Pakistan, had long been a stronghold of different Taliban groups before the ongoing operation was launched.
