ISLAMABAD - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said Pakistan and Myanmar enjoyed close bilateral tied, and hoped these would further strengthen in the days ahead.
He was talking to Myanmar Defence Services Commander-in-Chief Senior General Min Aung Hlaing here at the Prime Minister's House.
Recalling his visit to Yangoon, the Prime Minister said development and progress of Myanmar was impressive. He said Pakistan would like to see the bonds of friendship between the two countries grow stronger. "We would like to extend our full cooperation to Myanmar in all fields including defense and economic cooperation," he added.
General Min Aung said Myanmar wished to expand relations with Pakistan, especially in the field of defence, trade and investment. He extended condolences on the tragic incident that took place in Peshawar’s Army Public School on December 16, 2014.
Matters relating to regional situation also came under discussion. Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Special Assistant to Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.
