QUETTA - The Frontier Corps launched a search operation in Mastung, Kalat and Panjgur districts, killing at least eight suspected militants, reported a private TV channel Thursday.
According to Frontier Corps Balochistan spokesperson Khan Wassay, three security personnel were also injured in exchange of fire. He said that as many as 400 personnel and a helicopter took part in the operation.
Wassay said that officials being tipped off had carried out search operation in Ispilnji area of Mastung; Bhoi and Johan areas of Kalat. FC personnel managed to destroy the militants’ camps and explosive-laden vehicle.
The law enforcement agency claimed to have recovered a huge cache of arms comprising 12 sub-machine guns, 25 kg explosives and 20 hand-grenades from the militants.
Wassay claimed that those killed were involved in torching of oil tankers designated for Sandik projects and attacks on security forces in Nushki and other incidents. Separately, two suspected militants were killed when law enforcement agencies were conducting a search operation in Tusp, Panjgur district.
“FC killed two militants in return of fire and recovered arms from their possession,” the LEA said in a statement. It maintained that in yet another action, FC had arrested activists possessing a flag of the banned Baloch Liberation Front in Ormara, Gwadar district. They further claimed to have recovered two SMGs with 12 magazines as well as two hand-grenades.
IG FC Major General Sher Afgan said they would continue taking action until the complete elimination of militancy from the province.
GUNMEN KIDNAP TWO LABOURERS
Gunmen on late Wednesday night kidnapped two labourers from a local coal mine in Sharag area of tehsil Harnai and set the equipment on fire.
According to sources, more than two dozen armed men entered a coal mine in Sharag area of Harnai tehsil and kidnapped Wali Khan and Aqeel Khan, the two labourers there. The miscreants set the equipment on fire before leaving.
The kidnapped labourers belong to Swat.
However, the Levies Force personnel have initiated a probe into the matter.
3 PEOPLE KILLED IN DERA MURAD JAMALI
At least three people including a woman were killed on Thursday in firing over a personal feud in Gabi Goth area of Dera Murad Jamali.
Law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene after receiving information of the firing whereas rescue teams shifted the bodies to a hospital for the postmortem.Police have hinted old enmity as the cause of the killings.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident and started search for the arrest of culprits.
TWO BODIES RECOVERED IN PANJGUR
Two bullet-riddled bodies of unidentified people were recovered from Tasp area of Panjgur district here on Thursday.
Police said murderers had shot dead two persons and dumped their bodies in Tasp area of Panjgur district of Balochistan. The bodies were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities where identify of the deceased was yet to be ascertained.
The police after registering a case against unidentified murderers have started investigation.
