ARMY TO ASSIST ADMN FOR ELECTIONS IN SWAT

Friday, May 29, 2015 - Peshawar—The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Thursday declared two days holidays for May, 29-30 in connection with Local Government Elections 2015 in all the schools, colleges and universities of the province. It was notified separately by Elementary & Secondary Education and Higher Education Department Khyber Pakhtunk-hwa. 




Swat: Deputy Commander Swat, Colonel Naeem Nasar here Thursday met with Deputy Commissioner Swat, Muhammad Salim Marwat at Circuit House where matters pertaining to smooth holding of Local Government elections were discussed.

Colonel Nasar said on the occasion that Pakistan Army would provide best possible security during the election process. He said the army and civil administration would work as a team to ensure smooth holding of Local Government elections in Swat to be held on May 30. Colonel Nasar said every possible step would be taken to ensure fair and transparent LG polls in the district.

Meanwhile, Colonel Ali Yasir, Captain Qamar, Assistant Commissioner Babuzai, Ashfaq Khan and Election Commission officer, Abdul Qadir also held a meet-ing to discuss matters about LG polls in Swat. Colonel Naeem Nasar also visited district police office where he held a meeting with police officers to review security arrangements for upcoming LG polls in Swat.

Meanwhile, a high-level meeting at Commissioner Office Malakand also reviewed arrangemtns to ensure transparency and peace during LG election 2015 wherein RPO Malakand, Azad Khan, DC Swat Salim Marwat, Election Officer Swat and RTO Malakand were present. The meeting gave final touches to the ar-rangement for LG polls in Malakand and expressed satisfaction over the overall security arrangements.

Commissioner Malakand directed that election staff should ensure shifting of the election material well before 04:00 pm on 29th May and ensure their presence at the polling stations. The election staff, he said should inform about their presence to the control room on the allotted phone numbers.

Abbottabad: One month long campaign for Khyber Phaktoonkhawa (KPK) Local bodies elec-tions concluded in all over Hazara division and costs the lives of 11 people. According to the details, during the campaign for the LG elections in Hazara division 11 persons were died including five candidates in different incidents.

The worst incident in the history of Hazara divi-sion occurred on 9th May, Friday night when un-known assailants attacked on the PTI candidate Javed Khan when he was coming from Kalig in tehsil Havalian from his elections campaign along with gunmen. Six of his gunmen were killed in armed attack and Javed Khan also got serious inju-ries.

In another incident which took place in Sarai Saleh district Haripur when unknown gunmen on Friday 7th shot dead acting president PML-N Tehsil Haripur and candidate for Tehsil councils Qazi Mu-hammad Sajjad when he was coming back from election campaign.

Candidate for Tehsil Coucnil Zahid Khan Ab-bottabad on Friday 15th May committed suicide with gunshot owing to domestic issue. Another candidate of UC Bakot died due to serious injuries when unknown gunmen shot him during elections campaign in his constituency and died after two days in hospital. Unfortunate candidates of UC Dadar died during his election campaign in a difficult hilly area where he slipped and fell down in a cliff and died while a candidate for village council UC Sarash died in a natural way.—APP
