Two PAF pilots killed in crash

DI KHAN: A Pakistan Air Force (PAF) trainer Mirage aircraft crashed a few kilometers away from D.I. Khan Wednesday afternoon, killing both the pilot and the co-pilot.

The aircraft, which was on a training flight, may have crashed due to lightening and rain in the area, according to police officials. The exact location of the crash has been determined as Miran, which is around 80 kilometers from DI Khan. Army and PAF rescue teams have surrounded the crash site and are searching for bodies of the pilots. The District Police Officer (DPO) said that the plane parts have been found near the crash site. The DPO further said that the area had been experiencing heavy downpour, contemplating it a likely reason behind the crash. The sources in Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have confirmed the incident, saying the crashed plane was Mirage 5 of the PAF. A spokesman of the PAF also confirmed the incident saying the Mirage plane was on a routine flight when crashed near Dera Ismail Khan earlier today.
