ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has taken control of the Mastol Pass that links the Khyber Agency to Afghanistan and has been used by terrorists for movement to Afghanistan.
The Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa, on Monday said that the Mastol Pass had been seized by the Pakistani forces and now our forces were tightening the noose against the terrorists.
He said that significant effects were achieved by the air strikes on Sunday night targeting the terrorists in an area close to the Afghan border.He said the terrorists were dislodged from Sokh, which is the central area of the operation. He said the terrorists suffered a serious setback with a large number of casualties. –PPI
Munir Khan Afridi adds from Bara: The security forces killed 26 more militants when Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter aircraft and army helicopters pounded various areas of Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, official sources said on Monday.
The sources said the fighter aircraft and helicopters targeted the bunkers of the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-i-Islam led by Mangal Bagh in Sandapal, Dwatoi, Takhtakai and other mountainous areas.
They said 15 militants were killed and several injured in the air strikes in the morning. Five hideouts were destroyed in the first strike carried out in the morning.In another strike in the afternoon, the sources said the fighter aircraft and helicopters targeted the hideouts in Sukh, Sandana, Tor Darra and Khyber Sangar killing another 11 militants and wounding several others.
“People living near Malikdinkhel Bagh cannot sleep in the night and are unable to work in the fields in the day time due to the heavy artillery shelling,” said Imran Afridi, a local tribesman.An official said security forces took control of two hideouts of the militants — Khyber Sangar and Sandapal — in Sepah and Shalobar areas.
