Terrorist involved in Army Public School Massacre Nabbed: ISPR

Rawalpindi: The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), mouthpiece of Pakistan Army on Monday claimed to have arrested one of the key architects of the Army Public School (APS) massacre in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.

According to ISPR statement issued here on Monday, terrorist Taj Muhammad alias Rizwan s/o Alaf Khan was nabbed by security agencies in an intelligence based operation. He was commander of the second group which orchestrated APS attack to avenge operation Zarb-e-Azb being carried out by Pakistan Army to flush terrorists from its territorial limits.

The other group of terrorists was being led by Atique-ur-Rehman alias Usman who has already been detained by security forces.

The ISPR statement further added that Taj Muhammad has confessed to his active association with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) since 2008. He is also involved in many other terrorist activities in North Waziristan and Peshawar.

Earlier this month, DG-ISPR Asim Bajwa had claimed that all those involved in the APS school attack, except six suspects, had either been killed or captured.

“The gang involved in the APS attack…comprised of 27 terrorists, 12 of whom have been arrested in Pakistan and Afghanistan, nine have been killed and six are at large,” Bajwa said on Feb 12, while briefing journalists about the progress made in investigations.

Taj Muhammad alias Rizwan, 27, is resident of Sippah village of Koi Chowk Bara Khyber. He had cloaked himself as an IDP in village Pawakai, Peshawar.

On December 16, a group of seven terrorists stormed military run Army Public School in Peshawar and brutally killed over 150 people including principle Tahira Qazi and other teachers.

Following the loss of innocent human lives, government and other political parties expressed a renewed resolve to fight terrorism in the country. The prime minister also lifted the moratorium on the death penalty in terrorism cases.
