GILGIT: Young Mohammad Imtiaz at last managed to bag a gold medal for Pakistan Army in the Shah Khan Ski Trophy that concluded at the Naltar Ski Resort on Sunday.
Imtiaz, who hails from Naltar valley, outclassed his both opponents from PAF and Gilgit Baltistan Scouts respectively. He covered both runs in 1.01.83 seconds whereas his close opponent Noor Walli of PAF finished second with 1.03.12 seconds. PAF’s Sohaib Khan clinched third position with 1.04.49 seconds.
This is the first win for Pak Army in the on-going winter competitions of 2015 being played at Naltar. It may be recalled that on the overall Pakistan Air Force, who pitched two former Olympians M Abbas and M Karim in various competitions, heads the overall table after winning the Inter-services ski trophy and the Chairman Joint Staff Committee Trophy. PAF is also favourite to clinch the prestigious National Ski Chaimpionship 2015.
Meanwhile, GB Scouts, Pakistan Army and Civil Aviation Authority finished second, third and fourth in overall points table respectively.
