German envoy calls on Federal Defence Minister

ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador Dr. Cyrill Nunn along with Defence Attache, Commander Carstan Klennke, called on Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif here Tuesday.


During the meeting, Khawaja Asif informed the German ambassador that Pakistan has a growing defence industry.
He showed interest in acquisition of technology, machinery and raw material for Pakistan's defence equipment manufacturing factories.
The German side appreciated the agreement of a joint venture between defence firms of Pakistan and Germany for development and up-gradation of heavy machinery.
Both sides discussed avenues of joint training, military cooperation and sought areas of joint production.
According to a press release issued here, Pakistan and Germany have friendly bilateral relations and Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Germany.
Germany has been helping Pakistan in social sector development and Pakistan appreciates the positive growth of Pak-German bilateral ties, particularly in the field of defence.
Germany, however recognizes and appreciates the efforts of Pakistan Army in tackling the war against terror and fully recognizes the sacrifices of civilians and law enforcing agencies in this regard.
The meeting proved beneficial with the hope of bilateral relations translating into tangible terms, press release concluded.
